How does a year long challenge work?

How it started…

It all began with an idea at the end of 2023 to push ourselves to new boundaries in a variety of areas that included both cardio and lifting. We had just four people register (including the two of us!), but only one person earned the 2024 inaugural patch. Congrats Kimi! (I‘m congratulating myself because I built this website, haha!)

As a whole, we failed. We had chosen four lifts and four race events and customized everything to each person. This was a lot of work even for four people. So we put our heads together and simplified the process while also adding MORE challenges to appeal to MORE people!

This is a point-scale competition.

All standards are pulled directly off the strengthlevel.com website based on your BODYWEIGHT for the lift challenges and AGE you will be in 2025 for the cardio challenges.

A movement completed at the Beginner level = 1 point, Novice = 2 points, Intermediate = 3 points, Advanced = 4 points, and Elite level = 5 points.

47 points = you’ve earned the Dare to Dash 2025 patch!

62+ points = you’ve earned the Elite Dare to Dash 2025 patch! (and maybe other swag too!)

Bodyweight and Age

We get it, body weight will fluctuate but we need to know your current weight during registration so we can see what levels you’ll be attempting. Are you between body weights on the lift standards? Same girl, same, but we all learned how to round up or down in elementary school so do the same here. If you weigh 114 lbs. you’ll use the 110 lb. standard and if you weigh 126 lbs. you’ll use the 130 lb. standard. Don’t make it hard.

Happy birthday! For this challenge, you will use the age you will be in 2025. Again if you’re between age groups for the cardio challenges, round up or down.

Bonuses

Who didn’t secretly hope that the teacher would offer extra credit on a test? We’re offering up to SIX bonus points, 3 points each per event, 2 bonus events max. Running a 5K in your neighborhood doesn’t count. Registering for any official event that has results posted to a website does count: any running race that has a distance above 5K, Powerlifting meets, Spartan races, Hyrox events, CrossFit competitions, Trail runs (again the distance must be greater than a 5K), and Strongman competitions are a few examples.

Let’s talk about the *marathon challenge. Don’t look up the standard. Don’t do it! This is the ONLY event that you will automatically receive 3 points for completing. You can’t earn less for running slower than your age standard and you can’t earn more points for running faster. It’s 3 points for completing an official marathon.

How do I submit my results?

Don’t worry about this just yet, it’ll all be explained in the participant portal on December 1, 2024. Your only task right now is to register and submit your $20 registration fee. You’re in or you’re out.

REGISTRATION CLOSED NOVEMBER 30, 2024
